Maria Nova  is a Lithuanian-born photographer, filmmaker, and creative director whose work moves fluidly across portraiture, film, and branded storytelling.

Born and raised in Lithuania, Maria’s passion for visual storytelling was shaped early on by the Waldorf School’s emphasis on painting, intuition, and independent thinking.

Over the last 11+ years, she’s developed a signature sensibility that opens up her subjects — whether they’re celebrities, founders, or everyday individuals — to create portraits that feel alive, honest, and deeply human.

As a filmmaker, Maria has directed and edited several short films, including “Foiegras” (2020) and “Like Foam” (2021). Her latest film, “LUNCH,” is currently in post-production. Her narrative work often explores complex human emotions and relationships with an eye for the beautifully imperfect.

In addition to her personal projects, Maria has created visual content for major clients such as Netflix, Visa, CNN, LAFW, NYFW, PATCH, and more. She is also the founder of UNHOLY AGENCY, a creative video and photo production house geared toward storytelling that pushes societal boundaries while staying deeply human.

With a BA degree in Cultural Analysis and Visual Anthropology from Amsterdam University College, Maria approaches every shoot like a journalistic voyeur — capturing both the posed and unposed, the light and the shadows. She believes in seeing the beauty in everything we touch, making it feel textured, alive, and full of potential.

Whether shooting a private portrait session in her studio, a behind-the-scenes feature for fashion week, or an editorial short film, Maria brings an intuitive, cinematic approach that invites people to truly see themselves differently.
